Although I have featured several videos from Bosko & Honey ‘s 2008 Ukulele Safari, I have never written a post dedicated to them and I feel they deserve a very special place on Ukulele & Languages because of their eagerness to discover new cultures and their open-mindedness and tolerance of differences.
There is one thing I have in common with Bosko & Honey, and that is the will to link with ukulele players from all corners of the world. While I am only doing a virtual ukulele world tour, Bosko & Honey tour the world on the field, mingle with ukulele players from different horizons, playing different styles of music.
Here are a few of the many places they went to during the Safari 2008 :
Bosko & Honey with the UkeBox, Shelley Rickey and Marco, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands
Bosko & Honey in Finland with Iiro (ukuleleigor) and Ville heading for the Fiskars Folk Festival
Bosko & Honey in Greece with Ross Maxwell
Bosko & Honey in Chiba, Japan with Rika-san and Akihisa-san.
Bosko & Honey with Nina Coquina in Florida, United-States.
It is therefore not surprising that their latest “Join the Safari” video contest attracts players from different parts of the world. Bosko & Honey’s 2010’s safari will consist on touring Australia (map here) together with Japanese Gensblue and French Yan Yalego.
At the time of writing I have counted entries from 9 countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Japan, Finland, France, Sweden, United-Kingdom and United-States). There are many great entries already and many different styles of music are represented. There is still one week left to enter the contest so why not try your luck !
