Fingerstyle and Instrumental Ukulele World Tour

12 2010

Discover ukulele instrumentals and fingerpicking at its best with the following selection of fingerstyle videos from around the world.

Whether it be in theme tunes, classical pieces, Celtic tunes, Brazilian music, flamenco and gipsy jazz, rock songs, the ukulele sounds really great. Enjoy this demonstration of the versatility of our favourite instrument !

Ken Middleton skillfully demonstrates the campanella technique on Loch Na Garr, a beautiful arrangement which I find very relaxing to listen to.

The arrangement can be purchased in Ken‘s ebook of Celtic arrangements : Celtic Ukulele ebook.

Jo. Vogel has made a lovely arrangement of a piece by Brazilian guitarist and composer Luiz Bonfa called Manha De Carnaval.

Valéry Sauvage plays Daphne, an arrangement from Jamie Holding‘s latest ebook, 20 melodies for beginners. This piece after Jacob Van Eyck translates very well to the ukulele.

Nicolas B performs Douce Étoile d’Été, theme from an episode of the Japanese manga series Naruto on a great-sounding Pono MPTSH tenor ukulele.

Switching to a completely different style of ukulele playing, some flamenco/gipsy jazz brilliantly performed by Anthony from Headcharger. The piece is Rio Ancho/Mediterranean Sundance by Al Di Meola and Paco de Lucia.

a ukulele trio including Gawasiman performs the theme of the Japanese animation Doraemon.

Another great arrangement by Rob, whose style of ukulele playing I really like, Prince Vince by Transistor Sound & Lighting Co. The song is initially a guitar song which you can listen to here.

Dominator performs his version of Brittni Paiva‘s ukulele version of Europa by Santana on a low G spruce top tenor.

That tune by Gawasiman was super cute. And nice version of Manha de Carnival. I caught that Headchanger guy’s video before, have to say I wasn’t very impressed.

Al: I love the interpretation of Manha de Carnival. Gawasiman’s ukulele trio is great, it’s a shame we can’t see them play though.

    Thank you Armelle!
