Themes and video games soundtracks on ukulele

12 2010

Today is the start of yet another winter weekend with the hills covered in snow and the temperature outside stuck below zero degrees Celsius. Perfect weather for checking film and video games soundtracks played on the ukulele and for learning how to play some of them.

Let’s start with a cover of Guaranteed by Eddie Vedder, from the  soundtrack  of the 2007 film Into the Wild by Ukejohnhenry.

Update of the 13th of Feb : the YouTube account of Ukejohnhenry is now closed which is a shame because his cover of Guaranteed was nice.  Hope you’ve been quick enough to catch a glimpse of the video! I hope he’s not been a victim of copyright claims.

Al Woodshed plays the Coronation Street theme. His arrangement is available on Uke Hunt here.

The Mac Gyver theme played on the ukulele by jsofts42

I love Exoticorn‘s cover of the fr-025 soundtrack by Wayfinder. And he’s got a Fluke too…

Breezy from the Video game Final Fantasy 8 played by Katie. An arrangement by ShadowFlare is available here.

Time for a bit of Star Wars, with the Force Theme played on a makapili concert uke by AnnaUK.

Chords described in the info section of the video are :

Fm Bbm6 C7 Fm C7 Fm Bb C7;

Fm C# Fm C7 Fm C7

Fm Bbm6 C7 Fm C7 Fm Bb C7;

Fm C# Fm C7 Fm C7

Still by AnnaUK, the Imperial March from Star Wars. Her arrangement is available for download here.

To drive away the dark side in a drastic way, what about My Ukulele, taken from a Canadian TV show for children called The Doodlebops.

    Thanks very much for including me, Armelle.

    Looks like the first video has been removed – I need to be more nimble in my watching.

    Al : There is no way I could have written a post about themes and not include you, Al! I love your arrangements of themes.
    thanks for letting me know about the first video. The YT account is even closed. I’ll update the post.

    AnnaUK does have some interesting ukes, doesn’t she? I even
    caught site of an hibiscus Flea (my own ukulele)lurking
    in the background.

    Forgot to mention this, Armelle –
    Over on Uketoob, Donnie Bubbles has posted a video in French, La Meme Histoire, by Agathe & Fine, on Feb. 12, 2010. If you haven’t seen it, drop by.

    PotofBasil : it’s the first time I’ve seen a Makapili uke. The soundhole on the side does make it look quite special.
    Talking of hibiscus Fleas, I have an hibiscus Fluke myself and I really love it.

    I have seen Agathe and Fine’s video, both on YouTube and UkeToob. I love their videos.
